Marian Pito Birdow-Wertheimer

Marian Pito Birdow-Wertheimer
October 3, 1953 – November 3, 2023

Marian was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the only child of Rosa Wertheimer-Bokkie and Bela Kalman Wertheimer. She received her degree in social work in 1975. After a few years of working as a social worker, she followed her passion of traveling, and her first destination was India, where she came in contact with eastern philosophies and cultures.

Marian moved to the States in her early 30’s by putting roots down in Colorado, where she created a beautiful life and made many friends. She was very outgoing and adventurous, she loved singing and was a member of three different choirs, Resonance, Thousand voices and Spirit voices. She played a pioneering role in the local Dutch community and reaching out to people was her second nature.

Marian met Anthony Birdow, the love of her life in Denver, and they were married for 22 years. Their joint love for each other and traveling led to more trips abroad and to their house by the lake in Florida, which she called her Happy Place. Being a Dutch girl, she loved the ocean and learned to swim at an early age. Swimming was one of her passions, along with good food especially sushi and impacting others lives with her caring and wisdom.

Marian and Anthony felt very supported by family and friends, throughout the 11 years challenge against cancer. She felt so loved and was so grateful for that support up until the very end.

Celebration of life was held in a private ceremony.
