Parting Stone
Something solid to hold on to.
Parting Stone is a different way of keeping someone close. Instead of an urn on a shelf, your person's cremains are refined into forty to eighty smooth, solid stones, quiet as river rock, each one entirely them. Stones your family can hold, share among everyone who loved them, and carry wherever life goes next.
After cremation, or after terramation
Parting Stone can follow most of the paths your family might choose. After flame cremation or water cremation, the cremains themselves become the stones. After terramation, the stones are made from the skeletal remains that accompany the Regenerative Living Soil™.
The one goodbye it cannot follow is green burial, where your person returns to the earth whole. If holding something afterward matters to your family, that is worth knowing before you choose, and we will talk it through with you either way.
Hold one
A stone warms in a pocket and fits the palm exactly the way worry stones always have. Many people carry one every day, without ceremony, without explanation.
Share them
Forty to eighty stones means every child, grandchild, and old friend can have one. No one divides an urn. Everyone simply receives a piece of the same quiet whole.
Leave them in loved places
On the summit they always climbed to. In the garden. By the river. A stone can rest anywhere your person loved, naturally and without a trace of anything unnatural.
Why families choose them
Ashes ask a question many families find hard to answer: where should they go, and who keeps them? Stones answer it gently. They are not fragile, they are not somber, and they do not need a shelf or a decision. They are simply present, the way a river stone in a coat pocket is present, for as long as anyone wants to carry one.
What it costs, and how we sell it
A full set of Parting Stone through us is $2,400, whatever amount is sent, and that is a little less than ordering directly from Parting Stone yourself.
The stones take ten to twelve weeks to come back, and Parting Stone needs at least a quarter cup of cremains to begin. Most families send everything and receive a set of forty to eighty stones; the exact number depends on the amount sent, at roughly five or six stones per cup.
To be plain about it: Parting Stone is not our company. We buy the service from them and resell it to families, which means we do make something on it, the same as we do on an urn or a casket. We mention it because you should know that when you are weighing our suggestion, and because we would rather tell you than have you wonder.
