In Loving Memory
Stephen Gronseth
November 5, 1950 – September 17, 2021
Stephen David Gronseth, 70, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on Friday, September 17th, 2021 after an unexpected battle with pneumonia.
Steve was born on November 5th, 1950 to Rev. Stephen D. Gronseth and Florence Elizabeth Salo Gronseth in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduating from LD Bell High School in 1968, he went on to study music at the University of Minnesota.
After college, he pursued his love of music across the United States, touring with various bands and contributing to popular music as a studio musician throughout his 20s. In December 1979, after moving to Deerfield Beach, Florida to be closer to his father, Steve met Sarah Sinke (now Butcher) at Zion Lutheran Church, and they wed on July 18th, 1981, going on to have two children, Elyce Mae Gronseth and Kayla Marie Gronseth Boyer.
Steve was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, as you would often hear him say. He was unendingly proud of Elyce and Kayla, as well as his siblings Greg, Rosanne and Judi and always tried his best to support and stay connected with them.
Steve was a passionate musician and was often found with a guitar in his hands. His favorite activities revolved around playing or watching live music, passing his love of music to children through teaching, and adding value to theaters, music venues and church services by utilizing his vast knowledge of sound production.
Anyone who knew Steve knew that he was the most loving father a family could ask for. Steve was predeceased by Rev. Stephen D. Gronseth, Florence Elizabeth Salo Gronseth, and Elizabeth Anne Gronseth. He is survived by Elyce Gronseth, Kayla Marie Gronseth Boyer, Greg Gronseth, Rosanne Gronseth, Judi Gronseth, and Carol Gronseth.
The family requests that anyone interested in honoring Steve’s memory consider making a donation in his name to Bringing Music To Life, a project of the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center. Bringing Music to Life provides instruments for school music programs throughout Colorado. They are committed to repair all donated instruments so they are in excellent playable condition.
