Myra Lieblich

Dr. Myra Lieblich, wife, mother, and grandmother, died June 4 2023 at the age of 86, following a prolonged illness.

Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ to Hattie Lillian Singer and Sina Sydney Singer, Myra was the younger of two sisters. She began working local jobs at 16 years old to fund a precocious sense of fashion, was elected Class President in HS, and graduated from college with a degree in education. In her work as an educator, Myra was an early proponent of multi-age classrooms, Special Education, and emerged as a leader in her local faculty organization. Myra earned a doctoral degree from Hofstra University in Special Education, served as principal of Bellmore’s Winthrop Elementary School, and later as a Professor at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY.

In addition to teaching, Dr Lieblich traveled widely and was dedicated to the arts, supporting dance, opera, and a variety of symphony orchestras. A devoted daughter, mother and grandmother, Mymy loved a good joke. She was quick to laugh, creative, generous, and strong. She leaves behind her loving family who will hold her forever in their hearts.
