Mireya Khawli

Mireya Ramos was born on October 23, 1949, in Palmyra, Colombia, to Enrique and Naomi Ramos. A curious and gifted student, Mireya developed an early love for music and the arts. Her passion for learning led her to the United States, where she continued her studies and soon after fell in love. She married Jan Viktor Bodorff, and together they had two children.

After her divorce, Mireya embraced her role as a Montessori school teacher and ran her own home-based preschool, dedicating herself to nurturing young minds. She was also deeply involved in her church community, finding joy and purpose in her faith.

Later in her career, Mireya worked as the lead secretary for a shipping company, where she met and married her second husband, Oscar Khawli. Together they moved to Louisiana and then Ohio for his career, and Mireya lovingly raised their two children. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her family, faith, and friendships. She had a special gift for creating beauty, whether it was in her garden, her relationships, or her creative pursuits.

Years after her second marriage ended, Mireya relocated to Colorado to be closer to her eldest daughter and her family. There, she flourished once again, building new friendships and indulging her passions for gardening, fitness, health, and painting. She remained an active member of her spiritual community and brought joy to those around her with her warmth, generosity, and creativity.

In her later years, Mireya faced declining health, yet her spirit remained strong. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on August 27, 2024, surrounded by love and comfort.

Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Bloom Hospice team, especially Kendall and Ana, as well as to her son-in-law, Steffen, whose care was invaluable. They are also grateful to Tru Hospice and Amada Home Care for helping to honor Mireya’s wish to remain at home. Mireya was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved brother Edison, and her son Daniel Khawli. She is survived by her sisters Silvia Bolanos and Hilda Tejada and their families, her daughter Natasha Bodorff, son-in-law Steffen, and her grandchildren Linnea and Rowan. She is also survived by her daughters Adriana Kelly and Soraya Bodorff.
