Louis Green

Louis Spencer Green Jr. of Lafayette, Colorado, passed away peacefully under dementia care on August 12th, 2026 at the age of 79. He was born on April 14th, 1947 to Mary Elizabeth (Chaplin) Green and Louis Spencer Green Sr. in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating as an MD from KU School of Medicine in 1973, he went on to work as a research scientist for pharmaceutical companies including Nexstar and Gilead Sciences developing lifesaving medications. He married Ruth Galloway and together their primary accomplishments were their children, Lydia and Thomas, who they raised in the Boulder, CO area.

Louis will be remembered for his life-long love for hiking, photography, cats, and dancing. He was known for making friends at his favorite downtown Pearl Street haunts including Riffs Urban Fare and Trilogy Wine Bar & Lounge. Louis is survived by sisters Marilyn (brother-in-law Ben) and Barbara (brother-in-law Fred), children Lydia (son-in-law Michael) and Thomas (daughter-in-law Priya), grandsons Alex and Evan, and numerous grandnieces and -nephews. Louis was predeceased by his parents. The family wishes to thank the staff at Legend of Broomfield and Canyon Hospice for their care and compassion.

The family will be holding a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA or domestic violence shelters in Louis’ memory.
