In Loving Memory
John Davis
August 28, 1979 – November 23, 2021
After a long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, John Andrew “Andy” Davis of Arvada, Colorado passed away on November 23, 2021 surrounded by his closest loved ones.
Andy was born on August 28, 1979 in Tallahassee, Florida to Richard and Catherine Davis. He was sincere, devoted, compassionate, loving, and silly. From a very young age, Andy was passionate about soccer and he loved the outdoors. He participated in countless sports over the years and after moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2007, Andy became an avid snowboarder, kayaker, cyclist, and runner. He was also a faithful Florida State University fan (especially football and soccer). Andy met Carrie soon after moving to Santa Fe and they married in 2011, had one child, Kira in 2013, and moved to the Denver, Colorado area in 2014. Andy, Carrie, and Kira loved to travel, exploring other parts of the country and other countries. Andy and Carrie enjoyed visiting local breweries with Carrie’s sisters in the Denver area or wherever their travels took them to experience craft beers.
After an early career in Accounting, Andy dedicated most of the last seven years of his life to being an incredible father to Kira. He was a fiercely dedicated father, raising one equally passionate daughter. He excelled at supporting Carrie and Kira through the many passions of their lives whether that was supporting Carrie through her career or Kira through all the experiences of her formative years (such as Girl Scouts, gymnastics, etc.). He made it his mission to improve the lives of others.
Andy was predeceased by his grandparents Ruth and Charles Davis, and Frank Cross. He leaves behind his wife Carrie Zais Davis, daughter Kira Davis, father Richard Davis, mother Cathy Davis, maternal grandmother Margaret Cross, sisters Sara and Lisa Davis, nephews Isaac Branca and Devin Cheshire, niece Emma Cheshire, mother-in-law Sheryl Sclater, father-in-law Laurin Marlow, sisters-in-law Julie and Katherine Zais, as well as numerous extended family.
Andy chose to be returned to Earth in the most “green” way possible and requested to be composted. Following the conclusion of this process, his Celebration of Life Service is expected to take place in Colorado in spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Small Choices (https://www.smallchoicesfoundation.org/) , an organization that helped support Andy in his last months of life. Memories of Andy can be shared by sending an email to memoriesofandy00@gmail.com .
