Diane Dworkin

Diane Dworkin, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, died peacefully at home, on May 18th, 2023, surrounded by friends and family. As we encircled her with our affection, Diane knew, as she went on her way, that our love was with her. Diane had been ill for quite some time and, since March, had been in hospice care, looking forward to soon being out of pain and suffering. Diane did her best to approach death with grace, curiosity and a sense of discovery.

Diane graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and The College of the Atlantic with a degree in Human Ecology. She loved nature and animals which led her to work at the Arapahoe Wildlife Refuge, the Raptor Center and as a knowledgeable and compassionate Emergency Vet Technician in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio and Longmont, Colorado.

Diane was the founder and leader of Supporting Together, a non-profit organization where she facilitated meetings, offered support, education and hope to people diagnosed with depression or bipolar disorder along with their friends and family. Another goal of the group was to help diminish the stigma associated with mental illness. Her group members respected and appreciated Diane so much that they nominated her the The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance’s Leadership Award, which she received in 2014.

Diane is predeceased by her mother, Eileen Kline Dworkin, her father Max Dworkin and the many animals she adored. She is survived by her brother, Mike Dworkin, sister, Susan Dworkin (George Williams), nieces and nephews Emily Williams, T.C. Williams, Liam Dworkin, Finn Dworkin & Erin Dworkin, her darling fur babies Ruffles and T as well as many dear friends.

Special thanks to her caregivers – Cathy & Tsundu, her doctors & nurses, her End-of-Life Doula, Annie, her Trail Winds Hospice Team – Jane, Marie, John, Jane and Rabbi Charna Rosenholtz. Thank you also to her friends and loved ones who shared their hearts and their stories of time spent with Diane recognizing her kindness, determination, leadership & organizational skills, her loving spirit, conscientiousness and generosity.
