Anthony Gambee

In the memory of my husband, Anthony “Tony” Wheeler Gambee, I write this obituary with love, humility, and humor. Born on April 11, 1975, in Farmington Hills, MI, Tony was a smart, loving, and generous man who lived his life full of curiosity and eager for a new adventure. He owned Latitude Digital, a successful digital marketing and software services company he ran for nearly 30 years. He loved the people he worked with and saw them as friends, not employees or clients. But what motivated him wasn’t his work; it was his sons, his family, and the friends that he had a way of collecting like a child collects rocks. He lived for sharing his wisdom and got so much satisfaction in seeing people succeed in the goals he was passionate about: becoming better parents, boosting their businesses, or learning how to manage their finances.

His ability to love others was unmatched and he was a source of constant laughter and how lucky was I to be the one to benefit the most. He was my red balloon, carrying me along on his adventures. He brought me levity and laughter. And I was his anchor, keeping him grounded so as not to float away into the clouds. Anthony loved the quote from Hunter S. Thompson said, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow, what a ride!'”. Tony lived that quote to the fullest, and his ride was nothing short of extraordinary.

Tony is survived by the family he adored: his wife Kelli, his sons Samuel and Noah, along with his daughter-in-law, Hannah, and granddaughter Penny. He is also survived by his mother Alice, his sister Melany Hallgren, her husband Kraig as well as their children Owen and Ellis. He was preceded in death by his father, David and step-dad, Gary Alcala. We will continue to cherish and remember all the good times we had with Tony, sharing stories of his wit and generosity, and raising a toast of a favorite whiskey in his honor.
