As family and friends struggle to accept the loss of Murphy, we take some comfort in our memories of his life. Many would agree that Murphy was the least materialistic person on earth and many would agree that he might also have been the messiest person that ever lived! He was a gentle giant with a silly laugh. His humor would catch you off guard with unexpected insight. Animals small and large responded favorably to his calm energy despite his imposing stature. Murphy had zero interest in typical American sports. As a child he took fencing lessons and attended competitions. Swimming came easily to Murphy. This skill was instrumental in saving a friend who had severe leg cramps while swimming in Greers Ferry lake. Murphy loved history, video games, hot sauces and was a talented artist. Cooking was another passion that was encouraged by his beloved grandmother, Fay Southern. They spent many happy hours cooking meals for family and friends. As an adult, Murphy had several jobs in the food industry. Most recently he was working in the seafood department at Whole Foods in the Westminster/Bradburn area. Murphy had opportunity to travel to Turkey, Europe, Scotland, Mexico and Costa Rica. A favorite family memory is Murphy riding the Clydesdale, Rosie, across the Scottish moors. To all that shared part of life’s journey with Murphy, keep him alive in your memories. Murphy, Thank You for being part of our lives. We wish you peace and love always. The family would like to extend their appreciation for all the compassion and support that was given Murphy during the last months of his life by the employees at Whole Foods in the Westminster/Bradburn area and by his roommates at Oxford House/Broomfield, Colorado.
