Michele Desnoes was born August 4th, 1948 in Rockville Centre, NY. She was a free spirit in her younger years until she settled in Colorado with her young family. She studied psychology and earned her Master’s degree from Colorado State University. She loved teaching and was able to do that for part of her career at Front Range Community College. She then went on to do important work for Hospice of Larimer County/Pathways Hospice. Most importantly she was a lover of her husband, children, friends, animals, books and art. She is eternally loved and sorely missed.
Survived by her husband – Mark Portel, sweet cat – Gandalf the Grey, daughter – Rebecca Beland (Patrick Cavin), sister – Linda Taylor (Tom Taylor) and brother Peter Desnoes. As well as many nieces and nephews.
She was an amazing friend and mother-in-law (friend first). The grit she displayed throughout her life has left a monumental impression on me. I will forever miss her.
Michele was such a grounded and loving person. We worked together at hospice of Larimer county and she had the most balanced approach with families and patients- truth, humor and compassion. I have fond memories of her and am so sad to hear that she’s no longer with us. Love to her family.
Michele was a wonderful aunt and close friend. She had such a talented and creative soul, and her love for painting was truly inspiring. I feel grateful to have one of her beautiful paintings hanging in my home; it serves as a constant reminder of her warmth, passion, and the special bond we shared. Her artistry and spirit will always live on in the hearts of those who knew her. I miss her dearly.
