Mary Lorraine Denison

A beautiful compassionate person who brought people together with her love and kindness, Mary Lorraine Denison was carried home to the Lord on October 21st.

Born in Cushing OK. March 29, 1949, Lorraine moved to Colorado Springs as a young adult and lived in Cascade the past 38 years. Many were the days of joyful gatherings and laughter with family and friends in her beloved home.

Lorraine passionately worked for decades to advocate and improve the lives of those in the Developmentally Disabled community in Colorado Springs. She loved her purposeful work and her life had a lasting positive impact on many people over the years. She graduated from N.E. Oklahoma State College in three years with a degree in Special Education.

Family, friends, trips domestic and abroad, summers in Maine, and innumerable Colorado adventures were her love along with all of her pups.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Blair Nash Denison, adopted son Aaron, brother Gary Deeds, and numerous relatives along with 2 mini Aussies; Hogan and Deeds.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Doris Deeds, brother Kermit and sister Judy Deeds.

We take great comfort knowing she is now in the arms of the Lord. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Noon on Nov. 9 at Grace & St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to NMDR (National Mill Dog Rescue) in Peyton, CO. and/or The V Foundation (donate.v.org). We love and miss our beautiful Lorraine.

  3. I so loved this woman. She was special to me in all so many ways. I could always count on Lorraine to literally make everything special. When Lorraine and Blair got married, they completely shared 2 full days and nights with their friends, unbelievable, but for those two they shared their lives non stop with us all.
The last few years of my life, living in a different state, we did not see each other as much. But when we did get together it was like nothing had changed.
I so loved her, I will miss her so much. My only thought is my dear friend is no longer in pain.
I will miss you, my dear friend !!!

  9. Lorraine, thank you for being such an amazing friend and mentor in my life. When I met you 37 years ago, I remember you always being a ray of sunshine, always a positive word to say about those around you and the glue that kept many of us together through the years. Our Academy Awards parties were always a hit, the Martin Luther Homes Camping trip unforgettable and many more times of celebration. I am in awe of you and Blair in the love you have for each other and the love you shared with so many around you. Your smile and kindness will be missed, and I celebrate the indelible mark you left on this great earth and on me!

  10. Thank you Kay for the following beautiful note you sent and allowing me to share it here.

Hi Blair, this is Kay, Jane’s sister. She told me about Lorraine and ever since I’ve been trying to find a way to tell you how very special Lorraine was to me, as well as to Jane. Best babysitter ever! She was always the height of cool.
I know you must miss her every moment, she was such a special lady.
I wish I could be there for the service but health is keeping me tied to the house. But I will be there in spirit, as my spirit will be with you during the coming days.

  11. Oh Blair, it was absolutely beautiful. I especially loved your “My Sweet Lorraine” or rather, “Sweet Lorraine” amazing speech your Nieces and Nephew read. Awesome writing skills.
Thank you so much for sharing. Lorraine was truly a loving, giving and wonderful being.

    XOXO
    Meg
