Linda Exley (Ertl) Nov. 14, 1956-Dec. 5, 2023 Beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend.
On December 5, 2023, Linda peacefully passed away with family members by her side.
Linda was one of five children born to Frank and Betty Ertl (West) of Haddon Heights, NJ. She graduated from Paul VI High School in 1975.
Linda loved the Lord, listening to hymns, studies and reading the Bible. She had a passion for the arts and was a very creative, talented artist. She loved drawing, painting, crafting, performing arts and music. She was a member of the Eaglettes Dance Team at Paul VI and loved being active in the theater community. Her favorite places were Ocean City, NJ, NYC, Hawaii, California, Florida, and glamping in the mountains.
She enjoyed watching movies, and singing along with musicals and Broadway shows. Some of her favorites were “West Side Story”, “Funny Girl”, “The Sound of Music”, “Singing in the Rain”, “My Fair Lady”, “Grease”, “Jersey Boys”, “The Bodyguard”, “Pearl Harbor”, “Star Wars”, “Indiana Jones”, “Forrest Gump”, “White Christmas”, “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”.
Linda spent most of her adult life raising her two children and working part-time in accounting, banking and administrative positions. She loved being around her family and friends and missed them greatly when she moved away.
Linda moved to Colorado Springs with her daughter and son in late 2009 and has stayed there ever since. She enjoyed the beautiful Colorado mountains but longed to go back to NJ.
She lived her last days at Sunny Vista Living Center in Colorado Springs with her son, daughter and dog Dee Dee by her side.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Frank; mother Betty; and brothers Tom and Frank. She is survived by her son Ed, daughter Marie, brother Steve and sister Ann Marie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
We will miss her genuine smile, giggles, gentleness, loving heart and fighting spirit. We’ll cherish all the wonderful memories and carry her with us wherever we go.
A private memorial service was held over the weekend and a virtual memorial and celebration of life is planned for 2024. Details will be updated here.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local charity or friend/family member in need. Please pay it forward to someone who may be struggling this holiday season.
James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
Rest in peace, dearest sister. You are missed very much. We will look for you on the horizon in Ocean City.
