Julie Michelle Query, 48, of Boulder, Colorado, passed away on June 16, 2023. She was born on September 12, 1974 and was the beloved wife of Marc Pechaitis. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Julie was a loving mother to their beautiful daughter Ruby Magnolia Pechaitis.
In her all-too-short time on this earth, Julie touched the hearts of many with her radiant smile, kind heart, and compassionate spirit. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her ability to light up any room she entered. Julie was an incredible wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend who brought joy and happiness to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Julie was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and graduated from Sanderson High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Professionally, Julie excelled as a nurse in the neonatal care unit. Her dedication, intelligence, and perseverance were evident in everything she did. She was respected and admired by her colleagues and made a lasting impact on every patient she helped, and all of the colleagues she worked with throughout her career.
Beyond her professional achievements, Julie had a passion for dancing and live music. Whether it was spending time in nature, creating beautiful artwork, or simply reading a good book, she found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her infectious enthusiasm and zest for life inspired those around her to embrace every moment.
Above all else, Julie cherished her role as a mother. She showered her daughter Ruby with unconditional love, guidance, and support. Their bond was unbreakable, and Julie’s memory will forever live on in the heart of her precious daughter.
Julie leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished by her family and friends. She is survived and forever loved by her husband Marc Pechaitis, daughter Ruby Pechaitis, mother Angela Buckley, father and stepmother Len and Vicki Query, sister and brother-in-law Meg and Neal Townsend, and their daughters Mazie and Violet. She will also be loved forever by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, many cousins, and countless family members, near and far.
A memorial service to celebrate Julie’s life will be held at The Willow Farm Contemplative Center in Hygiene, CO (https://willowfarmcolorado.org/ – 11898 N. 75th St. Longmont, CO 80503) on June 29, 2023 from 2-5pm. Family and friends are invited to join in paying tribute to a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. There will be an additional memorial service for Julie’s friends and family in her hometown of Raleigh, NC later this summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made directly to them to help them cover the financial burdens associated with the many treatments and memorial events that are being planned throughout the summer and beyond. Friends have established a GoFundMe online fundraiser for this purpose (https://gofund.me/a138e195).

Julie was a wonderful friend to me for a few years while she lived in Portland, OR. I was so sad to hear of her loss. She was thoughtful, funny, and fun, and she made me feel good about myself. Even at a crowded party or show, she was always so tuned into our 1:1 conversation. We had dinner and drinks a few times and I valued all of her insight after she listened and listened to me. My only regret was losing touch with her after she moved. Julie was amazing! We both went on to name our daughters Ruby, and I’d love to meet her Ruby someday.
