Our dear Carla has passed away from cancer after a courageous two-year treatment period.

Born Carla Yim in Oahu, Hawaii. Carla and her fraternal twin, Charla (Yim) Combest, were born to James and Helena Yim.

A graduate of Punahou High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, Carla received her BS and MS Degrees in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Denver.  She began her professional career with the Head Start Program in the Five Points area of Denver.  Subsequent to this, she directed a high-risk language impairment special education classroom at Park Lane Elementary School in Aurora.

Carla was a Special Education Compliance Consultant with the Colorado Department of Education.  In this position, she insured special education compliance in various public-school systems throughout Colorado.

In 1990 Carla became certified as a Quantitative EEG Practitioner.  She started her Neurotherapy Clinic in Boulder, Colorado where, for 20 years, she treated numerous members in the Boulder/Denver Community who experienced various neurological, emotional and/or learning difficulties.

Later, she extended her professional competencies as the Chief Seminar professional for Boulder-based Lexicor Medical Technology, providing QEEG and Neurotherapy training to a vast array of clinical professionals.

In 1990, Carla was appointed Executive Vice President and Chair of the Wellness App IP, Inc. Board of Directors. The Company intends to market a health, medical and consumer system for the Assessment and Optimization of Super Fluid Intelligence in order to aid people in living well with chronic diseases, improve learning efficiency in general education and to aid in expanding human consciousness.

Her passions were marathon running, triathlons and a special passion for tennis.  She was also known, in her earlier days, as an excellent bartender for a Denver-based Mexican restaurant.

Carla was preceded in death by her beloved son Duncan, who passed away in August 2021.  She is survived by her husband Michael and son Graham, fraternal twin Charla Combest, sister Jamie Wolf, brother-in-law Dean Wolf, and her beloved dog, Oliver.  She has an extended family living in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, July 21st at 1:00 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center located at 6007 Oreg Ave., Boulder, CO 80303.
