August 2, 1932 – December 5, 2023
Beatrice “LaVonne” Vining was born in Anthon, Iowa on August 2, 1932. She was the second oldest child, of fourteen, of Cyril Walling and Margaret Walling. She was raised in Iowa, on a farm near Correctionville. Later she met and married the love of her life Wyman Vining and the two moved to Denver, Colorado in 1959. LaVonne is survived by her husband of 70 years, three daughters Rita Vining, Reva Nickel, and Raelene Vining along with seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
LaVonne worked for the local Telephone Company as a Switchboard Operator at 18 years old. She loved her career and worked her way into management. She was a representative of the management team, negotiating contracts with the local and national unions. She retired after 38 years as a Human Resources Manager. During this time, she also attained a degree in Theology.
After her retirement, LaVonne and Wyman continued their passion for travel and visited multiple countries in Europe, and Australia. They also loved Cruises in the Caribbean Islands. Their travel included multiple states in the US as well. They enjoyed visiting their second home in Mulege, Baja California Sur, Mexico, and later in Yuma, Arizona.
Along with her travels, she was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She was an active member of many quilting groups in Colorado and Arizona. She loved to sew for friends and family and acquaintances, and would even finish their quilts.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
My condolences to the Vining family. Although I never met her, I was friends with two daughters. I have fond memories of them. I worked with Reva and Rita at a Jack in the Box in Wheat Ridge back in the 70’s.
I worked with LaVonne for many years at the telephone company. We were instant friends and we share many good times and family stories. I felt a personal connection wth her family even tho we never met. The weddings, grandkids and graduations. LaVonne was always willing to help others and had an easy way with people. I remember the retirement and travels she and Wyman took. Always a good time and very interesting stories. We shared many laughable moments. With retirement, our conversations were less frequent, but we still stayed in touch. LaVonne was an exceptional person ….. A life well lived. My condolences to the Vining Family. Heaven has another Angel..????
I remember the vacation in Glenwood Colorado seeing Wyman and LaVonne as a happy couple. Good Memories. Now; a much needed rest.
My Condolences.
