It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Barre Marc Sakol (7/9/50-8/9/26). Beloved husband of Amy, proud stepfather of Anne Marie (Whitney) Summers and doting father of his four-legged children, Zeus and Shelby. He will be dearly missed by his siblings: Jerry (Heidi) Sakol, Cary (Nancy) Sakol, Teri (Alan) Mina, his goddaughter Megan (Michael) Rardin, his many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held to honor his life and memory. In lieu of flowers, donations to the White Wolf Sanctuary (www.whitewolfsanctuary.com) would be appreciated.
Barre Marc Sakol

There wasn’t a single time that Barre didn’t make it his mission to teach, equip and leave me better than the way that I walked in.
The ways in which Barre has believed in me will be the ripple in time that leaves a person, a family, a community and all of humanity forever beautifully impacted.
Barre, you weren’t just a “difference maker” you are my ongoing “game changer”.
I love you, I love Amy and all your furry kids!
Goodbye, Barre.
We almost blew up your house with a chemistry set !
Had a good time wrestling you when you came up to practice with the varsity.
My sweet Barre…we met at 13 yrs old in high school. 16yrs ago we reconnected and wrote almost daily during that time. We laughed, reminiscing about the past, told each other just about everything. I was so happy to talk on the phone recently, and texted. Barre, my very dearest guy friend. I thank you for your immeasurable friendship during the good times and bad. I will miss you every day until my last breath. I never wanted to say goodbye.Loved you then. Love you now. RIP sweet prince. May bands of angels sing thee to thy rest. Jackie

Barre always worked to make the lives of other people better. His uncompromising integrity was an oxymoron for a lawyer and his kind soul will be missed by all that knew him. His sharp and quick wit coupled with his ability to see the reality had him deliver some absolutely brilliant, often times unfiltered commentary on the current state of affairs. From my perspective, the world was a better place with Barre in it.
Really missing you Barre and feeling blessed I was able to spend quality time with you this past week. Thank you for caring for, and loving my baby sister and our
family.
I’ve always remembered something that Barre and Amy did for me when I was a college student in Boulder – they gave me an opportunity to build a website for them at a time when I was still learning and developing my skills. Their willingness to trust me with real work helped me grow, and I’ve always appreciated that.
I’m very sorry for your loss, Amy, and am thinking of you and the family.
Dearest Barre,
You did it! Congratulations! You lived life to the fullest and on your own terms and we’re so grateful to have known you. Thank you for loving Amy and Anne Marie and Whit so completely, while welcoming our family with open arms and a big heart! Boy, are we ever going to miss you. We love you!
Although we haven’t had much contact recently, there’s always been a special place in my heart for you. We were friends to each other when we needed them, and I’ll never forget that. My condolences to your family and friends. May your memory be a blessing.
Dear Barre, I learned so much from our monthly conversations and often smiled to myself as you unwittingly demonstrated your impeccable integrity and fierce care for your clients.
Thank you for being part of my life. You will be deeply missed.
I met Barre sometime in 1980, when I was in need of some representation. I was 18yrs old at the time. He was kind, but firm. He always explained things to me in ways I could easily understand. Over the years he helped me navigate some difficult times. We quickly realized we had a few things in common, animals, and sports. As. most of you know, he loved his dogs. Over the years I have known and met most of them. He was also a big lover of Wolves, and his office was adorned with photos of wolves, his Dogs, and some sports memorabilia. Barre preferred the company of his dogs to most any human. He was a dedicated and loyal guardian. He was also a dedicated and loyal friend to me. We didn’t see each other often, but when we did we quickly fell into an old friend rhythm. I will miss him very much.
Barre,
I saw you for the last time this morning. You were laid to rest peacefully with some of your favorite things (baseball cards, comic books, wolf plushies, and shopping bags!) and Mom and I were able to say a few final words to you. We brought the dogs with us, too, even if they couldn’t see you. They both shed a bit of fur (okay, a lot of fur) for you to take with you into your next step in your journey. I’ve said “bye, Barre” a few times this week, but this was the last one.
We listened to Bonnie Raitt and the Beatles as we said goodbye to you. I chose “Hey Jude” because my momma loves the song, but also because it is a song written for a child struggling with change after a family is broken up. There are lots of songs about losing loved ones or losing fathers, but this one is about finding strength to move forward.
Each night I’ve said the mourner’s kaddish and spent some time with your candle – the same one you lit for Shelle and Ted every year. I’m going to light it each year in your honor, too. Thank you for passing it along to me to give me a way to remember you and look to you when I miss you most.
I had hoped to find closure today. I didn’t, but I did get to see you smiling one last time and that is how I choose to remember you – that little smirk of yours when you said something funny or when you played with the dogs. I love you with all my heart and miss you more than I know how to express.
Our family live next-door to the Sakol‘s from 1957 to 1970. We moved in when I was an infant, so Barre would have been around seven. When Barry was around 16 he worked at McDonald’s as I recall. I was at the house when he came in with a McDonald’s bag with a big burger in it for his brother Cary. He took a huge bite of that burger and then opened it up and all it was filled with tons of ketchup and mustard. Barre and his mother Shelley had removed the meat and fed it to their dog Simone. I was much younger, so I didn’t have a lot of direct interaction at that age like other friends of his would have. However, I was around enough to see what a kind person he was. I love the family. We need more people in the world like Barre. You will never be forgotten.

It is with great sorrow that we send this out! Amy, we in Court Security at the Justice Center will always think fondly and remember Barre and the dogs. Barre knew how to give some of us Deputies the therapy we needed by bringing Zues and Shelby by. We will always be grateful for allowing us to love on the dogs at least once a week. Rest in peace Barre and much love to you Amy, Anne Marie, the dogs and everyone else who was blessed to know Barre.
Very devasted today to find out I have lost such a very dear friend who truly made a difference in so many lives!
